Speaking Of: Motherhood & Freelancing

Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 10:00 (Central European Time)

In this session, the speakers will exchange their views and experiences as freelancing mothers. They will explore different approaches and try to find answers to questions such as “How does being a freelancer with kids compare to being a freelancer with no children?” and “How does being a freelancer compare to being employed when you have children?”

They will share strategies and tips, worries and bliss. Why? Because both feel it is a topic that deserves more attention, more of an open dialog among peers and with clients.

Why are they only talking about motherhood? Well, because they are mothers. If you are a father or have taken on any other parenting/guardian role and want to join them for their discussion, feel free to leave a comment during the Live and they will invite you on screen.

About Claudia

TMS-Speaker-Claudia-Letizia Based in Germany, Claudia is a multilingual professional with two target languages (EN + IT) and four source languages (DE,FR,IT,EN) and a solid academic background in linguistics and intercultural communication. She works as a proofreader for ESL academic writers and as a translator in several, non-technical fields, especially food, health, and marketing.

Freelancer since 2009 and mom since 2016, Claudia has recently rebranded as Slow Translation, targeting clients who value quality and understand that time is a crucial factor for the production of excellent results.

The challenges of combining motherhood with a freelance career have played an important role in helping her find this new direction. She strongly believes that manageable deadlines are key for her professional and personal satisfaction.

In December 2019 she won Proz.com’s translation contest with one of her slow translations!
