How Your Mindset is Sabotaging Your Success (and how to fix it)

Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 17:30 (Central European Time)

Have you ever felt that you’re caught in a catch-22 as a freelancer? That you are always working more and more for less and less and never getting ahead?

Catch 22 in the translation business: You don’t achieve your own version of success because you’re too caught up in the “success” of being busy with all the projects that come through the door (even if you hate it and they’re low paying).

In this session I will discuss how looking inwards to analyze our mindset is the first (and many times most difficult) step you need to take in order to find success as a language professional. I will also share strategies to help you analyze what your beliefs are around your worth, and business in general, so that you can leave behind the ones that no longer serve you and replace them with ones that will allow you to stop self-sabotaging and get off the proverbial hamster wheel.

With increasing market competition, the “race to the bottom,” and being constantly bombarded with new tools, specializations, services, and in general an overwhelming amount of ideas, strategies and plans, freelance translating has become more than a little overwhelming.

With all of this, in addition to the need to pay our bills, it’s easy to lose sight of why we became freelancers to begin with and get caught up in always focusing only on the important and urgent tasks, leaving any type of self-care, business development, and all those important and non-urgent tasks for the day when we “have time.”

In this session you will:

  • Understand that mindset is the foundation for success as a freelancer and entrepreneur and that the only one you should be competing against is yourself.
  • Learn how to analyze your beliefs around business and your worth.
  • Get strategies that will help you replace old beliefs with new ones that will serve you in reaching your personal definition of success.
  • Receive prompts that will help you to get clear on your personal vision of success, analyze your current situation, and set goals that will move the needle forward.
